OUR STORY

It Began With An Idea

A LETTER FROM TAMARA

Tamara TCM began with an idea – a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Wellness Clinic with a high standard of professional care. Serving Toledo, Sylvania, Perrysburg, Maumee, and the surrounding communities with integrity and compassion. To educate and empower others. The better you are the better I am. The better I am the better you are.

I moved back home to Northwest Ohio, from Seattle in February 2012 after passing 4 National Boards through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and started Tamara TCM in March 2012.

At first, I rented a room out of an established acupuncture clinic in Temperance, MI. It was a great start – I was there for one year before the Ohio laws changed, allowing me to practice herbal medicine in Ohio. I met Scott McBride (our resident CCT Master Teacher) in that first year of practice and we became friends. He helped organize and implement systems into the growing practice, which soon moved to Perrysburg, OH – going from 1 room to 2000 square feet.

The clinic now had employees and an herbal dispensary – in fact, my mom was one of the first employees. After meeting my husband and starting a family, I met Carol Kremer, who ran the clinic while I was on maternity leave. Carol knew Yesenia DeCapua from school and that is how we all convened.

We were in Perrysburg for 4 years before moving to Uptown Maumee in June 2017 and it has been a wonderful journey. We now provide Traditional Chinese Medicine to Maumee, Toledo, and the surrounding cities that encompass Northwest Ohio.

We love the community and culture here. Many people have come into the clinic, adding their energy and helping it grow. I’m grateful and blessed to work with this amazing team of women and eternally grateful for everyone who has left their mark on this entity, helping make it what it is today. Here, now, I realize what you do with an idea – you change the world!

We are beyond proud to be your best local resource for natural, Traditional Chinese Medicine. Come in and see us – we’ll make you TCM Tough!

In light,

OUR MISSION

The mission of Tamara TCM is to provide high quality natural medicine with integrity that is safe and effective. We are committed to serving our community with compassionate care and providing education to empower and inspire people to reach their greatest potential.

THE MEANING OF TAMARA

Tamara- is a type of fruit-bearing tree and has the meaning of “Giver of Life.” Eastern Medicine promotes the body to heal naturally by identifying the root of the problem not just the branch. Tamara TCM owner and operator, Tamara D. Willingham-Rapp combined the symbolism of a tree with her true passion for Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture to produce the identity of her specialized practice.

WHAT IS TCM?

TCM or Traditional Chinese Medicine is a complete holistic system of treatments that originated thousands of years ago. TCM includes Herbal Medicine (i.e. Internal Medicine), Acupuncture, Nutritional Therapy, Moxibustion, Cupping, Guasha, and Electro-acupuncture, as well as Qi Gong, Tai Chi, and Tui Na — all designed to promote whole body health and correct imbalances in the body’s energy flow.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is a powerful and natural healing process that can relieve symptoms of poor health, identify risk of disease, and be used for preventative care. Your professional practitioner will assess your health condition and symptoms. Once this assessment has been completed, it will result in a diagnosis and prescription of treatment.

We are an integrative clinic, working cooperatively with Western medicine as appropriate, making us an excellent choice for those seeking natural, proven solutions to their health concerns without the side-effects of drugs.
